The Muir woods is a stand of ancient Sequoia trees located just north of San Fransisco in California. It is probably the Sequoia area that is closest to a major urban center.
It is also a place were you can go to practice your "First Amendment" rights! I´ll bet you did not know that there were only select places such as this were you are free to practice your constitutional rights (as a US citizen that is). Hmm, I wonder who thought up this sign?

It's a magnificent forest, in fact all remaining redwoods are. One walks around, continuously amazed. In many places it's easy to imagine that elves would appear. Truly mystical and majestic!
I have a big collection of tree images, many from the tropics, and would be happy to see some appear on this very wonderful tree blog!

A-ha! A fellow tree enthusiast! Very glad to have found you....or vice versa! I am off to check out your other blogs too. Bye for now!
Hi, Dan, thanks for commenting on my blog a couple days back. You commented on my post about the Santa Monica Treesavers.
You've got some beautiful photos here! Nice trees!
I live in a grove of mature Coastal Live Oaks in Southern California. I'll try to do a blog post about them soon, because they are, in fact, magnificent.
Thanks!!

I loved reading about John Muir in past books and was delighted to find this post...assuming the woods were named in honor of him. :D
Super photo and post. I had no idea signs like that existed.
